With much at stake in current EU legislative proposals affecting the media sector, Commissioner Viviane Reding and Commissioner Margot Wallström join a platform with CEOs of newspaper, magazine and online publishers, as well as representatives of the European Parliament and Commission officials at this year's "Publishers' Forum" to debate key policy issues that will have a direct and lasting effect on media freedom and competitiveness in Europe.

This event, representing the "who's who" of European publishing, takes place next Tuesday, 6 December in the European Commission's Charlemagne building from 10h00 until 17h10 (followed by cocktails).

Commissioner Reding has chosen this event to announce the outcome of the recent consultation on the competitiveness and future policy orientations for the publishing industry.

Journalists are invited to attend but must pre-register as this is an "invitation only" event.

A copy of the programme is attached.

Please register by contacting Heidi Lambert, heidilambert@hlcltd.demon.co.uk or call Tel: +44 (0)1245 476 265 for further information.
